Hiking is an easy and fun way to keep fit and enjoy some exercise in the outdoors. Sri Lanka provides the perfect environment for keen hikers, with serene trails and green luscious forests; providing challenging yet fulfilling walks. Borderlands incorporate hiking into many programs.
Experience the tropics walking through Kithulgala Rainforest, or witness history visiting Beli-Lena Cave and Gal-Lena Cave , with artifacts and skeletal remains dating back 33,000 years. Excavations are even still taking place at these caves. A more challenging hike can be done in Avissawella, where you can peak Yikhatuwa Mountain , where a magnificent view awaits you from the top. Other venues include Yakahatuwawa and Hatton, and also three to five day excursions can be done to the Knuckles mountain range.
Hiking has been found to encourage communication, team-work and support within groups, whilst also providing participants with the chance to witness some of Sri Lanka 's spectacular scenery and gain new insights into their ability within the team, and well as the team's overall ability to work together and support each other.
