Borderlands conduct many river expeditions on a number of rivers, including the Mahaweli River, the Kelani River, Bolgoda Lake, Bentota Ganga and the Deduru Oya. These expeditions entail either kayaking or canoeing, and can range from a one-day excursion, to a seven day excursion.

Experience the beauty of Sri Lanka's rivers and rain forests first hand, whilst enjoying the adventure of handling a kayak or canoe. At night, camps are made of river beds, where tents are set up, and food can be enjoyed around a bon fire under the stars.

Trained facilitators and instructors accompany groups on every trip, and are all internationally trained in CPR, artificial respiration, first aid and river rescue.

Sea-kayaking is usually more challenging than flat water kayaking, particularly breaking the surf; paddling the kayak out beyond the break. It involves riding the waves, and also exiting the surf, landing back on the beach. Overall, sea-kayaking is an exhilarating sport, and can be enjoyed by those skilled, or even those just seeking an invigorating few days!

Borderlands are now happy to be offering sea-kayaking expeditions to different areas, one being the remote waters of Kalpitiya. These trips will vary between two to six days and will be all inclusive. These newly developed expeditions are challenging and fun, where a true adventure and an unforgettable experience are sure to unfold!
