Borderlands use various climbing sites around the island, and are continually scouting for new ones. One secured climbing site is located in Avissawella. It has different levels of difficulty, with climbs to suit everyone, including beginners as well the more advanced. This offers participants the chance to “challenge by choice”, so that one can participate at their own level. Climbing is an enjoyable way to challenge one's self, and is also a great physical challenge for the body. Team members will pair up, with one person “on belay” supporting and observing the climber, providing the type and amount of help the climber needs, while the climber is in a harness scaling the rock face. For Corporate Training Programs, this dynamic carries over to the workplace in the form of strong mutual support and trust, motivating teams to think creatively, share ideas vertically, and create a level of trust that only climbing can accomplish
Overall, climbing offers excitement, challenge, dedication and fun. |

With state of the art safety equipment, including helmets, ropes and harnesses, Borderlands always considers safety the key element when planning such activities. Staff are trained to international standards, and are all experienced in their fields.
At the end of the day, participants have gained comfort with taking risks, increased their self-confidence, and improved their communication with teammates. These growth spurts occur regardless of how high individuals actually climb, because everyone is involved in the program.

Abseiling is also a rewarding activity for groups and teams, offering participants an exhilarating and enjoyable experience. Borderlands have various abseiling sites, including the rock site at Avissawella, providing safe yet challenging abseils. Encouragement is a key factor needed, and when displayed, promotes self and group success.
Abseiling is an adventure sport, where the participant descends down a cliff face using ropes, a harness and safety equipment. Borderlands use many sites around the island to abseil, including Laxapana Falls and Yakahatuwawa.
Borderlands always use state of the art safety equipment, including helmets, ropes and harnesses. Safety is considered the key element when planning abseiling and other activities, with all staff being trained to international standards and experienced in their fields. |
