Just off the coast of Sri Lanka, the jewel in the Indian Ocean, swims the majestic blue whale, the largest creature on earth. Borderlands Ocean Safaris give you the opportunity to see blue whales along with sperm whales, orcas, playful spinner and bottlenose dolphins, turtles and whale sharks in their natural environment. FILM CREWS:

Borderlands has been supporting international film crews for 3 years. Teams come with special permits to film the whales and dolphins in their natural environment which we help facilitate. Observing and documenting whale behaviour in their underwater natural habitat is critical in our understanding and conservation of the species. “The Mandala” and “The Rib” are the preferred boats used by wildlife documentary makers and underwater wildlife photographers. Borderlands strictly adhereS to international codes of conduct when interacting with whales to minimise any negative impact on these magnificent giants.

OUR BOATS

ARAYLIA II

Araylia II is 10.5 meters in length powered by  twin 150 HP, 4-stroke Mercury engines. Her top speed 35 knots, reaching the shipping lanes in 20 minutes. Has On-board toilet, a stereo, cooler, and kitchenette, 15 pax + 2 Crew.

MANDALA II

Mandala II is 10 meter , Cabin Cruiser. 300 HP Penta Volvo diesel engine. can travel at speeds of around 35 knots. There is also a stand up bathroom, kitchen and cabin for wet days out at sea. Excellent for Deep Sea Fishing .
15 Pax + 2 Crew. We provide all necessary gear including Rods and bait for Deep Sea Fishing.

IAIN

Iain is an 8.5 meters in length.150 horsepower, 4 stroke engine. 10 pax maximum. On- board toilet.

THE RIB

The Rib is a 6 meters in length. 90 horsepower engine. 4 adults maximum, OR 2 adults with 3 kids. Ideal for dive and research teams.
