Kithulgala Base Camp

Borderlands operates from of our riverside camp in Kithulgala, Sri Lanka. The camp, located in the rugged foothills of the hill country and overlooking the Kelani River, is stunning. Our comfortable tents & cabins are situated just above the river, so you can relax and enjoy views of the lush countryside and jungle clad surrounding mountains.

We hope you will take the opportunity to join our thrilling and heart pumping activities including white water rafting and kayaking, canyoning and abseiling. For those looking for something more sedate, the area offers beautiful walks and our flat water kayaking is suitable for all ages and abilities. The river is refreshing, our activities are awesome fun whilst being always safe, and our food is mouthwateringly delicious.

Ocean Safari by Borderlands (Welligama)

Ocean Safari by Borderlands is an ocean-based water sports centre which offers a plethora of activities.

Our fleet includes 2 luxury speed-boats on which we conduct whale/ dolphin watching excursions, SCUBA diving trips, and sunset cruises. We have our own surf school with instructors, IRS and Canoe Kayak Canada certified kayaking and canoeing instructors for sea kayaking as well as river kayaking/ canoeing. The nearby Polwatta river is also an ideal place for Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Boarding where we conduct guided tours. We also conduct guided snorkeling tours around the Weligama reef.

In addition to water-related sports, mountain bikes are available for those who prefer land over water. And if you don’t want to choose, it’s even possible to organize a special triathlon, which will take you from Sea Kayaking to River Kayaking to biking!

As an official PADI Dive Center, Ocean Safari by Borderlands offers all the range of PADI courses, from Open Water Divers to professional Divemaster. It’s also possible, for those who have never dived before to take an introduction dive, Discover Scuba Diving program which will give you a first impression of the underwater world. Of course, we also take certified divers who want to go fun diving on our daily diving trips in Weligama Bay and can arrange longer trips to the wrecks of Galle.
